महागौरी (Mahagauri)
Brief
As indicated by Hindu legends, the Goddess Shailputri at sixteen years old was incredibly beautiful and was honored with reasonable tone. The meaning of her name is Maha (great or extreme) and Gauri (white complexion). Because of her super reasonable coloring she was known as Goddess Mahagauri. Due to her fair complexion Goddess Mahagauri is compared with the conch, the moon and the white bloom of Kunda (कुंद). She decorates white garments just and because of that She is otherwise called Shwetambardhara (श्वेताम्बरधरा). Devotees worship her as the remover of all sufferings in life. This form of Parvati was created when Lord Shiva decided to marry Parvati and used water from the sacred Ganga to clean the dirt from her skin.

The eighth day of Navratri festival is known as “Ashtami”. On this day, Goddess Mahagauri is worshipped, who is the eighth manifestation of the Goddess Durga.
Iconography
The mount of Goddess Mahagauri just as Goddess Shailputri is bull and on account of that she is otherwise called Vrisharudha (वृषारूढ़ा). She wears pure white clothes adorned with white ornaments. Goddess Mahagauri is portrayed with four hands. She conveys Trishul in one right hand and keeps the subsequent right hand in Abhaya Mudra. She decorates Damaru in the one remaining hand and keeps the subsequent left hand in Varada Mudra. She is the symbol of purity, serenity, peace and calmness.

हिमाचल के घर गौरी रूप तेरा। महाकाली दुर्गा है स्वरूप तेरा॥
सती (सत) हवन कुंड में था जलाया। उसी धुएं ने रूप काली बनाया॥
बना धर्म सिंह जो सवारी में आया। तो शंकर ने त्रिशूल अपना दिखाया॥
तभी माँ ने महागौरी नाम पाया। शरण आनेवाले का संकट मिटाया॥
शनिवार को तेरी पूजा जो करता। माँ बिगड़ा हुआ काम उसका सुधरता॥
भक्त बोलो तो सोच तुम क्या रहे हो। महागौरी माँ तेरी हरदम ही जय हो॥
